How it works
Effective date: 2026-04-29. Fika Meetis a marketplace for paid one-on-one meetings with vetted professionals. This page explains how a booking happens end to end and serves as the platform’s terms of use. By using Fika Meet, you agree to the policies described below.
Beta status
Fika Meetis currently in early access while we finish building out the platform. Booking a paid meeting is not yet open to the public — any professional profiles, availability, or pricing you see are for preview purposes only, and no charges will be made. We’ll update this page and notify signed-in users by email once real bookings open.
Roles in a booking
Every booking has two parties:
- Host — the user who initiates the booking and pays. The Host picks a time, writes a short context note, and holds the charge on their card while the request is reviewed.
- Guest — the Professional being invited. The Guest reviews the request and accepts or declines. Anyone with a Professional profile on Fika Meet can be a Guest.
A user can be both — a Professional may be a Guest on bookings they receive and a Host on bookings they initiate. Fika Meet encourages peer-to-peer professional networking.
Booking lifecycle
- Request. The Host picks an available slot on a Professional’s profile, writes a context note, and pays via Stripe Checkout. The card is authorised — funds are held but not yet captured.
- Review. The Guest sees the request in their inbox and either accepts or declines. If declined, the authorisation is cancelled and no money moves.
- Capture on accept. When the Guest accepts, the held amount is captured to the Fika Meet platform balance. The booking is now confirmed.
- Meeting. Both parties meet at the agreed time, online or in person. A per-booking chat is available throughout for coordination.
- Handshake.Inside a short window around the meeting time, the Guest signals attendance (“I’m here”) and the Host either confirms the meeting happened or reports a no-show. See “The handshake” below.
- Close + payout. When the meeting is confirmed, the platform transfers the Guest’s share to their Stripe Connect account, minus the platform fee.
Payments and fees
Payments are processed by Stripe. Fika Meet uses Stripe Connect with separate charges and transfers:
- Authorisationat request time — the Host’s card is held for the booking amount. No funds move yet.
- Capture on accept — the held amount is captured to the Fika Meet platform balance.
- Transfer on close — once the meeting is confirmed, Fika Meettransfers the Guest’s share to their Stripe Connect account.
- Platform fee — Fika Meet retains 10% of each booking. The Guest receives 90%.
To receive payouts, a Professional must complete Stripe Connect onboarding from /dashboard/wallet. Stripe holds payout banking details directly; Fika Meet only sees a reference to the connected account.
Cancellation policy
Either party may cancel an accepted booking before the meeting starts. The refund issued depends on who cancels and when:
- Guest (Professional) cancels — the Host receives a 100% refund, regardless of timing.
- Host cancels 24 hours or more before the meeting — the Host receives a 100% refund.
- Host cancels less than 24 hours before the meeting — the Host receives a 50% refund. The other 50% is retained to compensate the Guest for the held slot.
Cancellation from the pending state (before the Guest has accepted) releases the authorisation in full and no charge is captured.
The handshake
Fika Meet uses a two-sided handshake at meeting time to confirm that the meeting actually happened.
- Guest signal.Inside a window from 5 minutes before the meeting starts to 5 minutes after it ends, the Guest clicks “I’m here” on the booking page. This tells the platform the Professional showed up.
- Host confirmation. After the meeting, the Host clicks Confirm meeting to release payment to the Guest, or Report no-show if the Guest did not attend.
Both parties receive email reminders if either side hasn’t acted. If neither party acts within 24 hours of the meeting end, the booking auto-resolves based on whether the Guest signalled attendance — see “Auto-resolution” below.
Reporting a no-show
If the Guest did not show up, the Host can file a no-show report from the booking page. The report requires:
- A written reason (between 10 and 2000 characters) describing what happened.
- Optional photo evidence — up to 2 images, each under 5 MB. Stored privately; only the Host who uploaded them and Fika Meet support can view them.
Outcome depends on whether the Guest signalled attendance:
- Guest did not signal — the booking is cancelled and the Host receives a full refund automatically.
- Guest did signal — the claim is contested. The booking is flagged for Fika Meet support review and is resolved manually.
Auto-resolution
If neither party takes action by 24 hours after the meeting end, the platform resolves the booking automatically:
- Guest signalled attendance — the booking is marked completed and payout is released to the Guest. This is the default-to-pay rule: a Professional who showed up gets paid even if the Host forgets to confirm.
- Guest did not signal — the booking is cancelled and the Host receives a full refund.
Reviews
After a meeting closes, both parties can leave a 1–5 star rating and a short comment. Reviews are public on the rated user’s profile and contribute to their average rating. Reviews are not available for cancelled or declined bookings.
Acceptable use
Users agree to use Fika Meet in good faith and to not misuse the platform, including but not limited to:
- Filing false no-show reports or submitting falsified evidence.
- Soliciting users to take payment outside the platform to avoid the platform fee.
- Harassing other users via the per-booking chat, reviews, or any other channel on the platform.
- Misrepresenting professional credentials or identity.
Violations may result in refund reversals, account suspension, or removal at Fika Meet’s discretion.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The platform, and any information exchanged on it, is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fika Meet and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, arising out of or related to your use of the platform, a booking, or a meeting between users — including the professional advice given, decisions made based on that advice, or disputes between a Host and Guest. Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Fika Meet will not exceed the greater of the platform fee paid on the booking giving rise to the claim, or 100 USD.
This section does not limit liability where it cannot be limited under applicable law.
Conflict resolution
The platform reserves the right to make any necessary adjustments, modifications, or decisions to resolve conflicts, disputes, or inconsistencies that may arise between users or within the system.
By using this platform, users acknowledge and agree that, in such cases, the final resolution will be determined at the sole discretion of the platform’s administration or support team. Users further agree to waive any claims or rights to dispute these decisions and accept the outcome as final and binding.
For contested claims (e.g. a Host reports a no-show but the Guest signalled attendance), Fika Meet support reviews the evidence — booking timestamps, chat history, attached photos, and statements from both parties — and determines the outcome under the authority above.
Contact support@fikameet.com for any conflict that the in-app flows do not resolve.
Changes to these terms
We’ll post updates to this page when policies change. Material changes will be announced via email to signed-in users. Continued use of Fika Meet after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
